Our company is seeking a Seismic Characterization Specialist to join the Reservoir Characterization team to support the development of its consulting activities.

As a Junior Seismic Characterization Consultant, you will be expected to work in integrated project teams composed of experienced geophysicists, geologists and reservoir engineers. You will carry out all tasks related to reservoir detection and/or property prediction from seismic data through seismic inversion and characterization workflows using Beicip-Franlab proprietary seismic solution InterWell™.

The successful candidate must have basic knowledge of seismic inversion and characterization workflows. Programming skills would be a plus, as well as academic knowledge in other geoscience domains, such as rock physics, geostatistics, seismic processing or geomechanics.

You will be based at Beicip-Franlab headquarters in France (Paris area) with opportunities to travel abroad.

Responsibilities

Acting as Junior Consultant, you will directly report to the Reservoir Geology Team Leader. You will be expected to:

  • Perform petrophysical interpretation tasks, definition of electrofacies and rock-typing, analysis of fluid contacts.
  • Build well database, QC and interpret petrophysical logs, supported by Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Work actively in an integrated project team (with geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers).
  • Participate to the presentations and discussions with the Client from data collection to results delivery.
  • Thanks to an access to in-house leading-edge technologies, you will apply innovative methods and actively participate to the evolution, development and promotion of our petrophysical software.

Preferences

The applicant should meet the following requirements to be eligible for the position:

  • An MSc/PhD degree or engineer diploma in Geophysics is essential.
  • First experience in seismic inversion and characterization, in Oil & Gas and/or Energy Transition industries is a plus.
  • A strong interpersonal and communication skill, written and oral, is essential.
  • A commitment for mobility as the job implies overseas missions.
  • A confident and assertive personality with the ability to provide effective technical support and soon articulate strong technical arguments to answer Clients’ expectations.
  • Fluent English mandatory. French, a plus. Spanish, advantageous.
